As you may have heard, my duplex was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday due to a negligent act by my neighbor. My son and I were sleeping when we were awakened about a fire at the back of my neighbors' portion of the house. We made it out safely, thanks to someone seeing the fire and waking us up and getting us out of the house.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude, tears and amazement at the outpouring of prayers, donations and well wishes that have been sent our way.
Please feel free to leave comments if you wish, and my son and I will read them when we can. I will respond to each of you individually if you leave your email address as well.
The fabulous design companies I work for have created a Donation button to help us during this tragedy, and words cannot express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation. You can find the JustRite Papercraft post HERE for more information.
Once donations are tabulated, I will send a personal thank you email to all those who have shared their generosity. I am honored to be amongst such a caring and giving community of artists and friends.
Thanks to God's Good Grace, and a good Samaritan, my son and I are alive today. We can only go up from here.
With Love,
Darsie and Al

ReplyDeleteI made a small donation, I wish it could have been more. I also put a little note on my blog, sending people to JustRite's post.
I am so glad you and Al are okay, and hope you find a wonderful new place and can get your lives back together as soon as possible.
hugs, Kathi

Oh Darsie,
ReplyDeleteI have tears in my eyes reading your post and looking at the picture. I am so glad that you and your son are safe! I have been where you are right now (though I lost my home and entire contents to a flood) and I know how hard it is - all the little things that you will need and the loss of things that have great sentiment let alone value and need. I will keep you both in my prayers. I am off to make a donation to help. God Bless and keep you both!
Hugs,
Jill Norwood, Seattle, Wa.

Darsie, there are just no words to express my sadness. Thank God you and your son are safe though! He does work miracles! I did make a donation through Pay Pal. I will pray for you and your son that you will recover quickly. God Speed! Hugs :-)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your fire! Glad you and your son are safe. My husband and I escaped a fire in our apartment 14 years ago as well. These next few weeks will really suck but believe me, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I will send a donation once I'm at my desktop!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you and your son are ok. You will never be able to replace some of your things but I hope the small donation I made can help you out.Sending extra prayers your way.
ReplyDeleteI don't know you but your in my heart and prayers. I lost a home to fire in 1989. I had 5 children age 3 to 15. We all got out safe. Loosing your home is a devastating loss. Your friends are doing a wonderful thing here. When this happened to me, I had a hard time accepting the help of people I didn't even know. Please know that it does more for them to help you. Try to accept these gifts and think what you would for them in the same circumstances. It helps me to help you because of the generosity I received. I hope you and your son will be in a home again soon. Blessings
ReplyDeleteDarsie, I only know you through the wonderful craft of scrapbooking. But our community is a caring one. I am so sorry that you and your son had to endure such a scary time, but ever so grateful that by the grace of God, a good Samaritan and the support of those around you helped save your lives. The daunting task of rebuilding everything you have lost will be an easier task if you just remember that you are both here and alive and you still have each other. Everything else pales in comparison. No it wont be easy, no the nightmares may haunt you from time to time, But time will ease your fears and the promise of a new light is just ahead of you both. My prayers are with you and your son.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Lsa
