Spellbinders™ Grand Calibur® Die Cutting Machine
Shapeabilities® S5-103 Bauble Blossoms One
Nestabilities® S4-301 Labels Sixteen #3
Shapeabilities® S4-328 Foliage #5

Cross Promotional Partners

Other supplies:

Embossing Stylus, May Arts Ivory Silk Ribbon, Decorative Stick Pins, Copic Marker G40, Memento Tuxedo Black and Angel Pink inkpads, Singer White Buttons, Recollections Pearls and Rhinestones

Card making instructions:

To make the trellis:

Cut 14 ivory quilling strips from Shapeabilities® S5-103 Bauble Blossoms One. Cut 4 of them into 5 inch pieces and mark with 1 inch hash marks.  Glue the 4 strips at each end to make a 5 inch square as shown.

Next, cut 2 strips at 6 ¾ inches, 4 at 5 5/8 inches, 4 at 4 ¼ inches with the remaining 10 ivory strips. With the pieces left over, cut 4 at 2 ¾ inches, and 4 at 1 3/8 inches. Following the photo, lay your strips against the hash marks on your square and glue with Beacon Adhesives 3-in-1 Glue . Once these pieces are dry, you will start weaving your other strips in the opposite direction as shown in the photo below. When finished, you will have your trellis grid. Glue grid to decorative patterned paper sized 5 1/8 x 5 1/8 inches.

To make your flowers:

Cut 3 quilling strips from the pink crepe paper, 2 from the ivory crepe, and 1 from the green crepe paper. Cut 4 flower pieces from the Wide petals die template of Shapeabilities® S5-103 Bauble Blossoms One, and 3 flower pieces from the Pointed petals die template. Cut 4 large rose leaves from the Shapeabilities® S4-328 Foliage.

With your embossing stylus, roll the quilling strip into a tight circle as shown in the photo. Apply Scor-pal® Scor-tape ¼ inch to the small end of the wide petals pink crepe piece and attach rolled quilling circle. Peel backing off Scor-Tape and roll flower around the rolled circle. Once petals are completely rolled, fold petals backward and crunch crepe paper softly to form your rose.

Repeat the above steps with the Pointed Petals ivory crepe piece for your second flower. Make all of your flowers and set aside.

Making your flower centers:

Apply Flower Soft Dimensional Glue to the top of a white button, then dip into Flower Soft Peony Pink and let dry. Make 3 for your pink flowers. Apply glue to the top of a white button, then dip into Polar White Flower Soft and let dry. You’ll need to make 2 of these for your white flowers. Once dry, apply a dot of glue to a decorative pearl or rhinestone and place in the center of your Flower Soft buttons. Adhere the buttons to the center of your flowers.

Following the diagram in the photo below, cut the remaining Wide Petals and Pointed Petals strips to make your flower buds. For these buds, you do not use a rolled quilling strip. Simply roll the petals and seal with Scor-Tape. Wrap a small piece of green crepe paper quilling strip around base of bud for the calyx. You can vary the size of the buds by having more or less petals.

Arrange the leaves on your Trellis panel in a pleasing manner. Adhere the panel to pink cardstock sized 5 ¼ x 5 ¼ inches, then glue to an ivory card sized 5 5/8 x 5 5/8 inches.

Putting your card together:

Lay out your flowers on the Trellis grid until you are happy with the placement, then glue to your panel. Add a pretty silk ribbon bow and decorative stick pins. Gently fluff the petals of your flowers as they may have flattened while being glued.

Creating your sentiment piece:

Stamp your sentiment from JustRite Papercraft – Cast All Your Cares Clear Stamp Set on ivory cardstock with black ink, then cut and emboss with Nestabilities® S4-301 Labels Sixteen #3. Leave the cardstock in the die, and sponge pink ink on the edges for a stencil effect. Edge your piece with Copic Marker G40 and add pink rhinestones. Layer the back of your sentiment panel with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L™ 3D Foam Squares, then attach to your card.
