Dare to dream...

Hi everyone! I have a new tag in my continuing Victorian Women Series featuring the works of Harrison Fisher, a popular artist that symbolized beautiful women in the Victorian era.  This is one of my favorite images from him, and I paired it with pretty filigree Spellbinders dies and complimented it with lace and silk ribbon from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

You are in my thoughts...

Hi everyone! It has been a while since I've posted as I was visiting my brother in Virginia. I am able to go see him once a year, so I stayed a few extra days and we had a blast! We laughed, went to movies, went shopping, and I cooked up a storm for him. I miss him already!

Today, I am showing you how to create a gorgeous card using Spellbinders Paper Arts® Core Basics which consists of most of the dies you already own: Circles, Squares, Rectangles and Ovals. If you think that you can't make a fabulous card using your basic dies, then you will see how easy it is!

For my card, I used a coordinating paper pad that I found HERE called Vintage Autumn Basics by Maja Designs. I am so in love with Maja Designs paper pads and I had to purchase two of each, just because! With the coordinating paper pad, I simply cut my basic dies and layered them as shown and added a Victorian Woman cut out, lace, pearls and a pretty white silk bow. It can't get easier than that!

Crafting with Melissa Frances...

Oh my goodness, I was able to play with some fabulous items by Melissa Frances from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store this week!! I just love the vintage feel to the products I used! My favorite style is Shabby Chic and the colors are so soft and pretty!

I created an adorable Bath sign with a coordinating tag! This was something I made for myself and it's proudly hanging on my bathroom door. The hangers from Melissa Frances are just perfectly sized for the Chipboard Labels and I can see all kinds of wall hangings in my future!

It's a BBQ Party at Midnight Madness...

This week's Party for the Midnight Madness Blogaversary Celebration is a BBQ Party! We would like you to share anything that pertains to a BBQ. By posting a comment on the Midnight Madness Blog, you will be entered in our random BBQ comment contest! It could be your favorite recipe, favorite game, family picture or just a fun story. We would love to see what you would like to share with us and in return, the design team have all picked out one of our favorite recipes to share with YOU! So, as you drool over all the fantastic creations this week, you can also drool over the yummy BBQ dishes. Have fun!

My favorite memory is when we went to my Great-Aunt's house for a huge family reunion BBQ! There was games like croquet and volleyball, tons and tons of food, and hand-churned ice cream for dessert! It was a fun day where we just ate and played and rolled down the hill!! Once on my own, I made a salad that my dad fell in love with and the recipe is below:

Tomato Egg Salad

Large beefsteak tomatoes
sliced cucumbers
sliced red onion
Sliced hard boiled eggs
3/4 cup Italian Dressing
1/4 cup White Vinegar

Toss vegetables and eggs with dressing and vinegar, and stir occasionally to coat veggies. Keep cold until serving. You can add other veggies if you'd like, such as green peppers, carrots, etc.

Here is my creation for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #54:

I stamped Ansley's Surprise Gift using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper white cardstock. I aged the image with Distress Ink, colored with Copic Markers, then cut it out. My designer papers are from an old paper stack called "Life's Journey". Card size; 5 1/2 x 6 inches

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy Green Day to you! My daughter, Lee, will take that a different way, but she knows what I mean! Today, is Belli Challenge Day, and our challenge is to use Clips of any kind in our creations! Also, we've got a Sketch for you to play with, as well! Combine the two for a great card!

My card uses a vintage image from my personal postcard collection, and I cut her out with an oval Nestabilities, then layered her to a scalloped oval glittery gold cardstock. I added rhinestones around the oval for a pretty frame. My background papers are polished stone glossy cardstock punched with Martha Stewart's Hydrangea punch, yellow glittery cardstock, and the clover paper is from Webster Pages. I got my swirly clips from Staples, and put it all together using the sketch below! I added a sweet organza bow and clover rhinestones to finish the card. Card size 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches

OCC Challenge...

It's time for another Sketch Challenge with Our Creative Corner (sketch is below) and I've made two versions this week! One is more elaborate than the other, but both work well for Birthday Cards! I pulled out my Scalloped and Plain Heart Nestabilities to fit the sketch and I just love how this simple layout can make such a pretty card!

My designer papers are from K & Company's paper stack called "Classic K" and it has beautiful floral and swirly papers in tones of green, rose and ivory! I glittered the swirls on my background paper and used the Botanical Floral punch by Martha Stewart for my strip. I added an organza bow, a decorative flower, pearls and a peel off sticker sentiment, then mounted it all to a rose card to finish it off. Card size: 4 3/4 x 6 1/4 inches

My second card has minimal embellishments and I stamped my sentiment (Inkadinkado) with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I glittered my swirly background and my floral heart, added pearls and a pretty bow to finish the card. I mounted it to an ivory card sized 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day is not only for lovers, in my opinion! It's a perfect day to show the one you love, whether a sister, brother, mom, dad, child or friend, how much you care! Valentine Cards are a delight to the young and old! My card today is for all those I love, my family and friends, and I just want to say how thankful I am to have you in my life!

This card qualifies for the following Challenges: Crazy 4 Challenges, Totally Gorjuss, By the Cute and Girly, Delightful Sketches & Challenges, Jacksonbelle Embellishments, Other Lovlies, Corrosive Challenge, Papertake Weekly Challenge, and Pile it On.

This card is what is known as a Crazy Quilt card, representing the Victorian era quilts with abstract seams, multi-hued fabrics, embellishments and extraordinary embroidery. I used snips of paper lace, buttons, stickers, a vintage postcard, a pretty bow and rhinestones for my effect. All of these were mounted onto my designer papers I picked up at Michael's. My stamp is from Inkadinkado, and my large red heart is a Martha Stewart punch. Card size: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches.

Important news! Fred, She Said's Second Blog Hop is February 15th! We had so much fun last month and can't wait to show you our newest creations using Fred's delightful digistamps being released that day!

Special Wishes...

Well, it's Challenges Time! I've created a card for the Our Creative Corner Weekly Sketch (sketch is below) and have discovered that it qualifies for other Challenges as well! Since I've been doing the Challenges and Sketches, I've found that my cards never seem to repeat themselves! Sometimes, you discover that you've been re-making the same style card, and it can get frustrating. When that happens, I whip out my printed sketches that I've found on other blogs or on SplitCoast Stampers and start creating something! Give it a try, you'll find a new freshness to your creations!

Challenges: Our Creative Corner Weekly Sketch, Flutter by Wednesday, Little Red Wagon, Simon Says Challenge, Roses on Paper, Pollycraft Monday, Raise the Bar, Crazy 4 Challenges, My Time to Craft, Diecut Dreams, and Stamp with Fun!

You'll notice that I didn't do any stamping, digital or manually for this card! I purchased the Madeline Designer Paper Pad by K & Company and it fit perfectly for the OCC Sketch this week! I'm really liking the vintage papers I've been finding lately! This was a quick card and it took more time to add the pearls to the butterfly than anything else! The rhinestone swirls are new at Michael's and of course, I had to have them! I used the Heart Plain and Scalloped Nestabilities for this card! My corner punch is by Martha Stewart and my sentiment is a peel off sticker! I finished my card off with a pretty brown organza bow! Card size: 4 1/2 x 5 3/4 inches
